Serial unggulan milik AMC; Mad Men, sekali lagi menunjukkan kedigdayaannya dengan berhasil memenangkan kategori Outstanding Drama Series. Ini merupakan kemenangan ketiga secara berturut-turut sejak 2008 bagi serial rekaan Matthew Weiner tersebut.
Sedangkan untuk kategori komedi, serial baru Modern Family membuat kejutan dengan berhasil menyabet penghargaan tertinggi, yaitu Outstanding Comedy Series, mengalahkan serial unggulan yang telah memenangkan kategori ini dalam tiga perhelatan sebelumnya sejak 2007; 30 Rock. Secara total, Modern Family berhasil memenangkan enam dari 14 nominasi yang didapatkannya.
Sementara itu, serial yang berhasil menyita perhatian banyak pihak sepanjang tahun ini; Glee, ternyata ‘hanya’ berhasil membawa pulang empat penghargaan saja, termasuk kategori Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series untuk Jane Lynch.
