Setelah EA Sport berhasil membangkitkan kembali franchise NBA Jam, kini developer EA Tiburon berusaha menampilkan kembali game olahraga NFL Blitz yang sempat populer pada tahun ‘90an. Menurut penjelasan EA Tiburon, NFL Blitz versi remake ini akan menampilkan sistem permainan yang tidak jauh berbeda dengan pendahulunya, hanya saja versi ini akan tampil dengan tambahan fitur-fitur mode permainan yang baru, permainan yang lebih agresif, dan peningkatan kualitas grafik.
Salah satu fitur terbaru dari NFL Blitz adalah sebuah mode permainan yang dinamakan “The Gauntlet”. Dalam mode ini pemain dapat menciptakan team mereka sendiri dan bertarung melawan team lainnya dengan bantuan berbagai macam power-ups. The Gauntlet juga menampilkan “boss team” yang harus dikalahkan dalam arena Blitz Coliseum, pemain dapat memperoleh berbagai macam unlockable jika mereka berhasil mengalahkan musuh boss ini. NFL Blitz adalah permainan olahraga dengan gaya permainan arcade penuh dengan adegan aksi yang ekstrim, sebagian bahkan terlihat melebihi batas normal yang malah membuat game ini tampil sangat menarik.
