Salah satu komunitas terbesar dan teraktif di Indonesia, tidak lain dan tidak bukan adalah id-iPhone. Dengan 3412 anggota mailing list, komunitas ini kerap mengadakan gathering bersama, selain untuk mempererat kekerabatan di antara anggotanya, juga untuk saling berbagi ilmu dalam bidang hobi yang mereka gemari, yaitu iPhone. Selain itu, ternyata id-iPhone juga sebagian anggotanya adalah penggemar iPad dan juga Macintosh. Acara gathering komunitas ini biasanya diadakan di tempat yang nyaman untuk berkumpul, makan bersama, dan yang penting adalah sarana untuk saling mempresentasikan hal baru, sharing informasi, dan juga berbagai aktivitas lainnya.

Di akhir bulan April yang lalu, tepatnya 30 April 2011, id-iPhone kembali mengadakan gathering yang disebut ‘Gathering Proletar’, diadakan di Warung Tekko, kawasan Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD). Anggota yang hadir pada acara ini mencapai lebih dari 40 peserta. Sistem pendaftaran peserta pra-diadakannya acara ini juga cukup unik. Peserta diwajibkan untuk mentransfer deposit uang dalam jumlah tertentu, yang ketika hari acara berlangsung, apabila peserta tersebut datang, maka uang deposit akan dikembalikan sepenuhnya. Menurut panitia, cara pendaftaran tersebut bertujuan agar acara ini dihadiri oleh mereka yang merupakan member id-iPhone, dan serius untuk mengikuti gathering tersebut. Setelah jumlah peserta mencapai target tertentu, pendaftaran pun ditutup kurang lebih seminggu sebelum acara dimulai, dan bahkan member senior pun tidak boleh ikut kalau sampai terlambat mendaftar.

Gathering ini diramaikan dengan berbagai hal baru, misalnya Binu Octa yang membawakan presentasi mengenai iPad, dan juga iPhone 4 versi ‘White’ yang baru dirilis oleh Apple. Selain itu ada Niko Radityo dari Macworld Indonesia yang menjelaskan mengenai Wayang Force, majalah versi digital untuk para pengguna iPad di Indonesia, serta ada sang ‘Dokter’ Chippy Ahwil, yang menguraikan dengan detail mengenai bagaimana troubleshooting Cydia pada iPhone melalui terminal.

Puncak acara adalah saat yang ditunggu-tunggu oleh para peserta, yaitu pembagian doorprize.
