Apple memang terus menemukan cara untuk menarik kembali konsumen agar tetap membeli produk iPod mereka. Di acara It’s Only Rock and Roll yang diadakan Rabu pagi waktu San Fransisco, Apple memperkenalkan model baru iPod untuk musim liburan 2009-2010.
Dimulai dari iPod shuffle, kini tersedia tiga warna tambahan, biru, hijau, dan merah muda selain dari perak dan hitam yang diperkenalkan tahu lalu. Apple juga menghadirkan iPod shuffle 4GB edisi stainless steel. Kecuali edisi spesial ini, semua iPod shuffle ditawarkan dalam dua kapasitas, 2GB (Rp 739 ribu) dan 4GB (Rp 1 juta). iPod shuffle stainless steel hanya dapat dibeli dari Apple Online Store dengan harga Rp 1,249 ribu.
Berlawanan dengan perkiraan banyak orang, Apple tidak memensiunkan iPod classic tahun ini. Sepertinya model ini masih cukup populer untuk dipertahankan terutama dengan kapasitas hard disk yang sama dengan sebuah MacBook Pro.

Untuk model 8GB memang tidak ada yang berubah, namun model 32GB dan 64GB memiliki prosesor yang lebih cepat dan jumlah memory yang lebih besar pula. Apple mengatakan model ini 50% lebih cepat dari versi sebelumnya dan mendukung API grafis sesuai OpenGL|ES 2.0.
Selai itu Apple memperkenalkan iTunes 9 yang menghadirkan desain baru untuk iTunes Store dan App Store, tampilan aplikasi yang juga berbeda degan iTunes 8, serta dukungan untuk Facebook dan Twitter dari iTunes Store. Di iTunes 9, pengguna iPhone atau iPod touch kini dapat mengatur jumlah home screen dan posisi aplikasi yang terdapat di kedua perangkat iPhone OS tersebut. Tampilan tab untuk perangkat iPhone juga dirapihkan agak dapat lebih mudah dikelola.
